How to get relief from the sore throat

How to get relief from the sore throat

Winter is one of the most beautiful periods of the year, but at the same time it could be really dangerous to our health. Sore throats are quite common and almost always a non threatening condition. But still it can be really painful, uncomfortable and cause a great discomfort.
In fact a sore throat is a visible inflammation or redness of the tissues and it makes eating and swallowing quite excruciating. Still it can clear up on its own in several days without any particular treatment, unless it’s something more than just a soar throat; in that case it’s better to consult the doctor. There are several ways to ease discomfort and give some relief by natural remedies.
-          First of all you should exclude from your menu hot, fried, heavily salted and spicy dishes.
-          Especially useful in this period are kissel, porridge (oatmeal) and mashed potatoes, vegetable sauce or fruit sauce. Soups are also may play their role, but what important here is that they should be warm, but not hot.
-          It is important to drink more (not less than 2.5 liters a day).
-          Warm milk with honey can turned out to be the best cure for you.
-          Take 3 fig berries and dip them in a glass of boiling milk, cook it for 10 minutes. You should drink it warm but not hot.
-          Take one teaspoon of linden flowers and a glass of hot water, infuse it. Keep it that way for 20 minutes, filter it, and then add a teaspoon of honey. You should drink a quarter of the cup three times a day.
-          Another remedy is a tea made with lemon, honey, apple, cayenne and cider vinegar. Add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, the juice of 1/4 lemon, one teaspoon of honey and a pinch of cayenne pepper to a cup of hot water and then stir it. It’s suggested to take 4 cups a day.
-          You can also use different gargles. The most effective are the salt water gargle and gargle with mint mouthwash.
-          It’s useful to brush your tongue, since removing the buildup on your tongue you can lessen the soreness in your throat.
-          Sitting in a steamy shower or bath can also ease the effect of soar throat.
-          It’s better to avoid cigarette smoke.

how to get enhanced digestive system

How to get enhanced digestive tract

You can’t even imagine how important digestive tract for your health is. Care about it will make you feel much better.  This is sad but many people suppose that taste must be satisfied at all costs and sacrifice digestive system to taste. You should follow the recommendations below to have good digestive health.
1. The choice of products plays the most important role. You should choose high quality foods. Cook using fresh products only. Healthy mix of foods makes the organism self-healing.
2. Right chewing is essential. This is the stage number one in digestion. You do not only break down big chunks of food when you chew, you stimulate the saliva flow mixing it with food. Enzymes start digesting carbohydrates and attack bacteria too.
3. Water is very good for your health, and you should care about it but all is good in right time. You should not drink water during meals – this is not good for your digestion because water dilutes your saliva. Therefore you should drink water half an hour before meals and one hour after meals.
4. You should have enough dietary fiber in your nutrition. Eat fruit, legumes, beans to get it.
5. Eat whole foods, the ones that were not processed. For instance, if you eat an apple this is healthier food than apple juice. Organic foods are better for your digestion. Foods must be close to the way they look originally.
6. Fruit should not be eaten as dessert after big meal. The matter is that you can make fruit useless when you eat fruit with other foods. All kinds of fruit are low in protein and therefore should not be mixed with foods that contain protein. Foods with protein stay long in the stomach because it takes much longer for your stomach to break the protein. Fruit become rotten during this time bringing you harm. Eat fruit on an empty stomach.
7. If you want to have proper digestion you should relax after big meal. Do not spend energy on other muscles and let digestive organs receive their portion of blood. When you move you do not let your body work in a right way.

how-to-insert-alt-tag-in-images

One of the simplest ways to make your Web site more accessible is to use an alt attribute in your image tags. It's amazing to me how many people forget to use this simple attribute. In fact, now, if you want to write valid XHTML, the alt attribute is required for the img tag. And yet people still don't do it.

What is the ALT Attribute?

The alt attribute is an attribute of the img tag and is meant to be an alternative for non-visual browsers when they come across images. This means, that the text is meant to be used when the image is not visible on the page. Instead, what is displayed (or read) is the alternative text.
Many browsers also display the alt text when the customer rests their mouse on the image. This means that the text should be clear and easy to read and not create a huge popup nightmare for any reader pausing their mouse on your page.
Adding alt text is simple, simply use the alt attribute on your image:
<img src="image.gif" alt="This is my dog, Fido" />

Tips for Writing Alt Tags

  1. Be brief
Some browsers will actually break if the alt text is too long. And while it might seem nice to describe what is exactly in the image, that's not the purpose of the alt tag. Instead, it should be filled with exactly the words needed to put the image in context and no more.
  2. Be clear
Don't be so brief that the context is confused. Remember, some people will ONLY see the text in your alt tags, so if it's too brief they might not understand what you're trying to show them. For example:
    a tree - good
    a sycamore tree - better
a 10-foot tall sycamore tree with mostly brown leaves and possibly something wrong with its bark - too much
  3. Be contextual
Don't describe the image if it's meant to be viewed in context. For example:
If you've got an image of the company logo, you should write "Company Name" and not "Company Name Logo"
  4. Don't display your site's inner workings
If you're putting in spacer images, just use a space for your alt text. If you write "spacer.gif" it just calls attention to the site, rather than providing useful information. And technically, if you're trying to write valid XHTML, you should use CSS rather than spacer images, so you might as well leave the alt text off of those images.
  5. Be search engine conscious
If you have good, concise, clear alt text, that can actually help your search engine rankings, as the images on your page promote and enhance your keywords.
  6. Don't use it only for search engine optimization
Many sites think that if they use alt text as an SEO tool, they can "fool" the search engines into optimizing their site for a keyword they don't have there. However, this can backfire if the search engine decides you are trying to fake your results and removes you from the results completely.

how to optimizing images for web

I noticed how many people don't optimize their images properly, which results in extremely slow loading time. When you intend to publish your images online, you have to comprimise the quality — just face the fact you cannot use a 100KB image on a website layout. It's not fair to your visitors.
This tutorial will explain in detail how to use Photoshop's Save for web... option.

Facts about image formats

There are many image formats available, but only a few work on web. They differ in some important properties, and you should learn how to use them best.
There are two kinds of image compression, lossy and lossless.
Lossy compression means once you decompress the compressed data, you will not get the exact same image as the original. However, this will only be visible at a closer look. Lossy compression is good for web, because images use small amount of memory, but can be sufficiently like the original image.
When you decompress a lossless image, you will get exactly the same image as the original. This compression uses greater amount of memory, so at times it may not be good for web.

JPEG

JPEG is a format name, .jpg is the extension for it. This image type is lossy, and you can control the compression level in image editors.
It is good for saving images with millions of colors, like photographs, drawings with many shades, images containing gradients etc.

GIF

This format is a bitmap, which means it's a grid made of tiny pixel squares. Data about every pixel is saved (so it's lossless), and you can save up to 256 colors. Pixels may also be transparent.
GIF may contain more than one frame, so it can be animated.
Since image programs can control the exact number or colors stored in a particular image, it is a good format for saving images with less colors, like charts, small graphics (bullets, website buttons), images containing text and other important details, flat-color drawings etc.

PNG

This format was created to become the new and improved GIF, because GIF was patented, and thus not free. PNG has greater color-depth than GIF, it can store partial transparency, and can achieve greater compression.
It's best to save images in this format when it's both needed to preserve transparency and large amount of colors, or partial transparency. Since it's a lossless format, these images are often not small enough for displaying on the web.

Saving images for web

Option for exporting images for web is found under File > Save for web... — other graphic editors must have something similar, probably under File > Export.

Saving images with many colors

  1. Choose File > Save for web...
  2. Since it's a photograph, choose JPEG.
  3. You can check the option Progressive if you like, it's only difference is how the loading will look like. Progressive images first appear blurry, and then become clearer as the image loads. Non-progressive images load line-by-line.
  4. First choose quality level, High if the image will be visible, Medium or Low if it's meant as a background.
  5. To have more control over the quality, use the slider or enter number in the field Quality
  6. Look at the file size and estimated loading time displayed in the lower-left corner while adjusting settings. At the same time, look at the image to decide on what quality looks good enough.
    • If it's a background, make sure file size is under 5KB, up to 2KB would be better.
    • If the image is a layout header, up to 40KB is acceptable.
    • If it's an image to be displayed on the page, 20-30KB is reasonable, depending on dimensions.
    • Artworks may be saved in better quality, since people who will look at them already expect to see large images.
  7. Once you have found the perfect balance between quality and compression, click the button Save
Save for web window
The image above would load in about 8 seconds on 56kbps connection. Its quality is not the best, some areas appear blurry, but it's still good enough for web purposes, and we used 75% less memory than before. This is how images with lots of colors should be saved.

Saving flat-color images and charts

  1. Choose File > Save for web...
  2. Since it has less colors, choose GIF.
  3. If the image contains empty (transparent) pixels, make sure Transparency is checked.
  4. Select the number of colors — try to make the number the smallest you can, while at the same time the image looks decent.
  5. If the image is not in the main focus (ie. background) try adding some Lossyness by dragging the slider to the right. This will reduce the file size.
  6. Once you have found the perfect balance between quality and size, click the button Save
The above image would load in about 5 seconds on 56kbps connection. If you take a closer look, you'll spot some differences, but the image still looks good enough to be a background — what is more important, it's only 15% of the original file size!

how-to-turn-on-your-facebook-timeline

If you are impatient and want to experience the new Timeline on Facebook announced earlier today, you can turn it through the developer section of Facebook. The process is simple, takes a few minutes, and will require some patience as Facebook tidies up any lingering issues and bugs. You game? Read on.
As reported on TechCrunch  just a bit ago, users can quickly enable the Facebook Timeline on their account in a matter of minutes. Here's how you do it.
1. Visit the Facebook Developer page , and enable it for your account. If you aren't currently logged in, you will be required to do so.
2. The button to create a new app can be found in the top right corner of the Apps page. Make sure to give your app a display name and name space when requested (it doesn't matter what you enter here, no one will see this app, just make something up and continue). Accept the Platform Privacy agreement by checking the box. You will have to have a verified Facebook account, meaning you have either a credit card or phone number on file.
(Credit: Screenshot by Jason Cipriani)
3. After the app has been named and terms accepted, you will then be taken to your shiny new apps' settings screen. You will see an Open Graph option on the left-hand side. Click on it.
4. You will need to define an action for your new app. You can enter whatever you like; no one is going to see this app when all is said and done, so don't fret too much over the details. (We entered "People can 'high five' a 'video'" as our action). Click on Get Started once you have entered your action.
(Credit: Screenshot by Jason Cipriani)

5. Once you are presented with the screen above, you don't actually have to do anything, just scroll to the bottom and select Save Changes. You may have to do this on a couple different screens; just remember to scroll to the bottom and select Save Changes.
(Credit: Screenshot by Jason Cipriani)
6. After you are taken back to the Dashboard for Open Graph, you have completed the setup process. Give it a few minutes, then go back to your Facebook home page. You should then see a big invite to enable Timeline. If you don't see it right away, give it a few minutes
That's it. Once you click on Get It Now, you will then be redirected to your new Timeline. Your Timeline is private, by default, for the time being. You can either edit it until you are ready to publish it, or you can ride it out and let Facebook publish it for you on September 29.
One more note: if you access your Facebook account from another computer, your Timeline is turned off. To get it back, enter the follow URL into your browser: http:www.facebook.com/[yourusername]?sk=timeline. Make sure to replace [yourusername] with your actual Facebook username.
